41% of young Europeans believe they will have to move to another country because of climate change

The European Investment Bank Climate Survey reveals that environmental migration is seen as a marked reality in Europe, where 82% of respondents expect that climate change will force people to leave their country of residence to escape extreme weather conditions.

At the same time, 24% of Europeans also expect to move to another country due to climate change. This figure is significantly higher among younger generations, where 41% are seriously considering the option of moving abroad.

There is also a significant gap between European countries, with 33% of Austrians aged 15-29 years planning to move to another country, rising to 51% among young Spaniards. In this regard, we recall that the MIGreenDeal project recalls the need to raise awareness of climate change and environmental commitment among young migrants through transformative learning.
